I came here with some of my linesisters for our line anniversary for happy hour. First, I love a great Black-owned place that has great service, food, and vibes--I love supporting our businesses! The server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and suggested a few drinks. I was impressed at how affordable the drinks were, and I really enjoyed the one I had (it had gin in it). I got the shrimp and grits which was by FAR the BEST Shrimp and Grits that I've had in a long time!! I had originally planned to save some for lunch the next day, but that was NOT happening. It comes with a delicious buttered texas toast piece, and the flavor is absolutely delicious of the entree. Like SOPPED THAT THANG DOWN!!! One of my LS' got the turkey burger which she devoured, and my other LS got the salmon pasta which she also sopped up. There was NO food left on our plates. Not one crumb. The vibes were amazing, food was tasty, and I really enjoyed myself!! I will definitely be back!
Took my wife and daughter here for Mother's Day and had a blast. Got there around 2pm and the turn-up vibe was real. Had a DJ and MC playing old school R&B, had a mom dance off, Mother's Day shots ( not too strong, just right). It was loud but a great time and the food was delicious. My wife had their strawberry Mimosa and I tried the house Mule... both great options. We ate the fruity pebble pancakes, cheesecake French toast, salmon croquettes and the breakfast Bistro. Left full and 100% satisfied! The prices are great!!! Also, it's in walking distance to the Beltline, where we burned off some carbs and rented scooters. We will be back next weekend.
Highland Bistro was our stop several months ago after the Van Gogh experience at the nearby Pullman Yards. It was a Thursday lunch over the holidays, and the restaurant was very quiet. We were initially the first patrons but several other tables trickled inside after we were seated. The restaurant is self-proclaimed as "Southern comfort food," and everything that I tried fell under this delicious moniker. We started with the Buffalo Cauliflower. Oh. My. The appetizer was an enormous pile of fried Cauliflower served with Buffalo wing sauce, ranch, and blue cheese. And when I say enormous... my husband stopped the waitress to ask if the appetizer was an entire head of cauliflower, and she confirmed that it indeed was. Four of us adults ate and ate this app and were essentially full once we had gotten down to the last few bites. The only con of the app was that I had no room for my lunch. My fish-n-chips were beautifully fried and very tasty, and I felt very sad to have to request a box to take some of it home. The con of my experience was the amenities. The restaurant had more of a diner feel (I wouldn't personally think of it as a bistro), and the back of the restaurant on the way to the restrooms was a bit messy with clutter. The restrooms also left something to be desired. If I lived nearby, I would definitely be snagging some Highland Bistro to-go pretty frequently. However, it's probably better for my waistline that I live pretty far away.
Listen, if you ever wanted to feel appreciated this is definitely the place! It was my son's 17th birthday so I dropped him and his friends off at Little Five Points and wanted to find a place to eat that wasn't too far and that matched my criteria; a swanky place with a good vibe and good food! I must say I found all that and then some here!! From the time we walked in until after we left, the experience was amaze balls and our personal waitress Taelor along with the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make it so. I looked this place up on- yes you guessed it, my trusty #yelp app and decided to go. Once we got here we were warmly greeted before we could even set all ten toes in. They were super eager to serve us with the biggest smiles and the most sincerest accommodations. It's like everyone was the hostest with the mostest including the owners Father-in-law . We were given a choice of seating and the show began. We were never left unattended which was a bonus since this was our first visit. I don't drink alcohol and after they gave my love his Blood Orange alcoholic Smoothie w/Boba they offered to make my very own non-alcoholic version because I was so excited about his Boba. That was just a smidgen of going above and beyond for them. Now on to the food, besides the presentation it was delicious . I'm not nor have I ever been a foodie but I must say, EVERYTHING was yummy, seasoned and cooked to perfection!! So all in all, I MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE and can't wait to go back, preferably on their brunch days. I couldn't thank them enough for our experience. Oh, and a random couple paid our tab which made our experience that much greater, so this place was a win/win with all its glorious, positive energy. GO!
I would highly recommend Highland Bistro to all the people I know. Service was excellent and the FOOD (especially the fried broccoli) and drinks were amazing... will definitely be back!
